PHOENIX, AZ – Veteran Tickets Foundation (Vet Tix) and Blue Star Families (BSF) today joined forces in a strategic partnership that will help strengthen both organizations’ programs and directly benefit military families.
Vet Tix provides veterans, service members, caregivers and family of those killed in action with free tickets to major sports games, concerts, and a diverse mix of other ticketed events, supporting community reintegration and personal health and happiness. Blue Star Families understands the unique challenges that military families face and provides an array of programs that strengthen family bonds. This partnership will help expose more military families to the programs and services offered by both national nonprofits.
“This is a meaningful partnership between two organizations whose mission it is to bridge that military-civilian divide. According to our annual Military Family Lifestyle Survey, the clear majority of military family members feel that the public does not understand or appreciate the sacrifices they make,” said Kathy Roth-Douquet, CEO of Blue Star Families. “We are excited to partner with Vet Tix to support even more military families across the country.”
Since 2008, Vet Tix has given out more than 2.6 million free tickets through its Tickets For Troops program, charging only a minimal service fee to cover processing and delivery costs. Today, there are more than 500,000 Vet Tixers.
Through career development, caregiving and leading research on military family life, Blue Star Families strives to better understand and provide solutions to the challenges facing today’s military families. BSF has more than 150,000 members and over 35 communities and chapters around the world. Each year, BSF’s programs and services reach more than 1.5 million military families. BSF has a wide range of programs for military families, including Blue Star Museums. This program gives free admission to more than 2,000 museums across the country, helping military families reconnect and create special memories in a community setting.
“At Vet Tix, we strengthen military families through community engagement. This is at the core of our mission, and our partnership with Blue Star Families will allow both our organizations to serve even more deserving families,” said Mike Focareto, CEO of Vet Tix. “This is truly such a natural fit and partnership and will touch the lives of so many families.”
“Vet Tix realizes that many community experiences come with a financial burden. Vet Tix eliminates that obstacle and helps to establish an environment for stress-free, family bonding,” said Focareto. “The new partnership will further strengthen the resources available to military spouses and families and the collaboration will establish awareness around the several programs offered between both organizations.”
