THE GOODYEAR COTTON BOWL CLASSIC PARTNERS WITH VET TIX TO LAUNCH THE SEND-A-VET PROGRAM

Press Releases

The Classic and Vet Tix to offer veterans at least 600 tickets for Dec. 28th contest at AT&T Stadium.

ARLINGTON, TX 10/17/19 – The Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic announced a new partnership with Vet Tix today to create a “Send-A-Vet” program that includes 600 game tickets distributed for free to veterans and current-serving members of the military.

“It is such an honor to partner with the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic which has such a rich history of great college games and championships,” said Mike Focareto, CEO of Vet Tix. “This collaboration will provide opportunities for all our current serving military and veterans of all eras to experience one of most sought after tickets in football. For many, experiences like this bowl game create unforgettable memories and smiles for their family and friends which impact our VetTixers by making them feel appreciated by and connected to their community.”

Vet Tix will serve as the presenting sponsor of the pregame National Anthem celebration at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic. As part of the festivities, the Cotton Bowl has purchased a new full-field 100-yard flag and 100 veterans will participate in the flag-holding ceremony. Additionally, a veteran will present the official game ball to the game officials.

“We are thrilled to partner with Vet Tix and support their Send-A-Vet program,” Rick Baker, President/CEO of the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic said. “This partnership will create so many great opportunities for those that have served or continue to protect our freedom both at home and abroad. This program will only accentuate the strong ties North Texas has with our military.”

Vet Tix provides tickets to events to help reduce stress, strengthen family bonds and provide life-long memories. Since its inception 11+ years ago, Vet Tix has provided more than eight million tickets to active and former military members. The sponsorship is for a three-year term and begins this year with the 84th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on Saturday, Dec. 28th at 11 a.m. CT. The Classic is the lead-in to the College Football Playoff Semifinals on ESPN.

ABOUT THE COTTON BOWL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION
The Cotton Bowl Athletic Association supports higher education through athletic competition.  Historically, three-fourths of every dollar generated by the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic is returned to participating schools and conferences.  Since 1937, the Classic has generated nearly $1 billion for participating institutions and higher education.  Each year, football fans attending the Goodyear Cotton Bowl generate more than $30 million in direct spending for the North Texas area.

ABOUT VETERAN TICKETS FOUNDATION
Veteran Tickets Foundation (Vet Tix), a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit, provides free tickets to sporting events, concerts, performing arts and family activities to currently serving military, National Guard and Reserves, veterans of all eras, immediate family of those killed in action, and VetTixers’ caregivers. Since 2008, Vet Tix has provided over 8 million free event tickets to more than 1.4 million members. In 2018 Vet Tix launched 1st Tix, which provides the same service to our nation’s current and retired law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMTs. These events help veterans and first responders reduce stress, strengthen family bonds, build lifelong memories, and encourage them to stay engaged with American life and their local communities. Vet Tix spends over 95 percent of its revenue on programs, ensuring that we give back to those who have given so much.
