PHOENIX (PRWEB) NOVEMBER 27, 2018
Veteran Tickets Foundation (Vet Tix), a national nonprofit that provides free event tickets to veterans of all eras, currently serving military, including the Guard and Reserves, immediate family of those killed in action and caregivers of VetTixers and military families, welcomed its one millionth member today.
The organization was founded in 2008 after U.S. Navy veteran Mike Focareto, founder and CEO of Vet Tix, attended Super Bowl XLII. During the game, he noticed several empty seats around him – seats that he believed should be filled by deserving men and women who served. Within weeks that vision would become a reality.
Charles Anthony, one of the first Vet Tix members and a 23-year U.S. Army veteran said: “Vet Tix has been such a wonderful organization and allowed my family and I to experience events that otherwise would be unavailable to us! As an early Vet Tix benefactor, I signed up over nine years ago – they have helped my family enjoy some wonderful shows which allowed us to create memories that will be with us for our lifetime.”
Since 2008, Vet Tix has partnered with a number of organizations and has benefited from influential donors like Live Nation and Ticketmaster to help us reach more military, veterans and their families.
Vet Tix launched 1st Tix, which provides the same event tickets and experience to first responders across the nation.
“We’re thrilled to continue expanding our community. Attracting one million members when we started this journey a decade ago would have only been a dream, but thanks to our team and so many others, we have reached an unbelievable milestone,” Focareto said. “It’s our goal to give back to those who gave, and to eventually reach all of the men and women who have served our country, both domestically and internationally. It’s not just about free events, it’s about creating community connections, improving family bonds and giving those who have served a stress-relieving outlet.”
The events offered to members vary from concert tours like Beyonce and Taylor Swift to professional sports games, and more. Users verify their eligibility through ID.me and once completed, they can request tickets to events happening in their area. Since Vet Tix’s founding, it has provided more than 5 million free event tickets.
