ASU GAMMAGE TO HONOR MILITARY MEMBERS THROUGH
NEW PROGRAM: OPERATION DATE NIGHT
Tempe, AZ – ASU Gammage is thrilled to announce that they are launching a new program to celebrate and honor the members of the United States military. This program is called “Operation Date Night,” and its mission is to allow soldiers and their spouses/significant others a night away from their day to day stresses and to get some much need alone time together. ASU Gammage has partnered with various Tempe restaurants, APS and VetTix to provide 60 military couples with dinner and tickets to the opening night performance of MOTOWN THE MUSICAL at no expense to the couples. Operation Date Night is part of ASU Gammage’s commitment to the military as part of their Connecting CommunitiesTM mission.
“We are proud to honor our military and families through an evening at the theater, their sacrifice, hard work and dedication to our country is invaluable and we hope to offer this experience to create long-lasting family memories,” says Colleen Jennings-Roggensack, executive director of ASU Gammage.
Directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, MOTOWN THE MUSICAL is the true American dream story of Motown founder Berry Gordy’s journey from featherweight boxer to the heavyweight music mogul who launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and so many more.
Featuring more than 50 classic hits such as “My Girl” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” MOTOWN THE MUSICAL tells the story behind the hits as Diana, Smokey, Berry and the whole Motown family fight against the odds to create the soundtrack of change in America. Motown shattered barriers; shaped our lives and made us all move to the same beat.
