PHOENIX – Veteran Tickets Foundation (Vet Tix) and PsychArmor Institute have announced a new partnership strengthening the two organizations’ mission of outreach to and engagement with veterans and the community that supports them.
The collaboration between the two non-profits will focus on creating common ground between the unique services each has to offer. PsychArmor Institute provides a wide range of free, educational material geared toward caregivers, healthcare providers, employers, volunteers and educators, while Vet Tix provides free tickets to professional and collegiate sporting events, racing, concerts, arts and family programs to service members, veterans and their caregivers.
“Military and veteran caregivers provide essential care and support for our nation’s wounded, ill or injured military service members,” said Marjorie Morrison, founder of PsychArmor Institute. “PsychArmor’s commitment to deliver valuable education to caregivers and families in a manner that fits their busy and often chaotic schedules closely aligns with the Vet Tix commitment to the military and veteran communities.”
It is estimated that nearly 5.5 million Americans serve in the role of military or veteran caregiver including spouses, parents, children, siblings, loved ones and friends. Their work often unseen, they are the vanguard providing critical, daily-living support to America’s military and veteran community. These tasks often include assistance with bathing, getting dressed, management of finances and legal matters and transportation to and from doctor’s appointments.
To support the veteran caregivers and their families, PsychArmor Institute provides free on-line training courses with over 100 educational topics in its on-line library available on an anywhere, anytime, on-demand basis at their website: http://www.psycharmor.org. Course topics include “Understanding Invisible Wounds of War”, “ABCs of Respite for Caregivers”, “Learning to Ask for Help” and many more. The courses, designed using a mix of simulations, animations and video, are structured to fully engage the learner.
Fortifying their commitment to the veteran support community, PsychArmor Institute offers the “Helping YOU Help Veterans” support center. The center is staffed by Master’s level mental health providers and is a resource for anyone seeking assistance on effective ways to help veterans.
“As a disabled US Navy veteran, I know firsthand the importance of our caregivers,” said Mike Focareto, CEO of Vet Tix. “We feel it is critical to support the care-giving hidden heroes who take care of those who have sacrificed so much for our country. In addition to strengthening family bonds and building memories with tickets to events, providing live entertainment to service members and veterans can reduce stress and encourage them to stay engaged with local communities and American life.
Every single ticket Vet Tix provides makes a real difference in the lives of our country’s heroes and their caregivers, by providing an enjoyable respite and create memories that can have a tremendous impact on everyone.
Since 2008, Vet Tix has delivered over 2.3 million free tickets for a small delivery fee and expects to deliver 700,000 tickets in 2016 alone. There are 450,000 Vet Tixers in all 50 states, including current serving military and veterans of all eras, and including Gold Star families. Ninety-five percent of funding goes to programs and Vet Tix is rated number 1 by Great Nonprofits.
Service members and veterans can become Vet Tixers at no cost by registering online. Once registered, they can make their caregivers eligible for securing tickets with them.
