Partnership will allow Got Your 6 to distribute free tickets to veterans, active duty, and family members
WASHINGTON (March 28, 2017) – The nonprofit Veteran Tickets Foundation (Vet Tix) and the veterans empowerment organization Got Your 6 today announced a new partnership that will help strengthen bonds between veterans and ensure successful reintegration back home. The partnership will tap into Vet Tix’s member base of more than 520,000 veterans, currently serving military and immediate family members of those killed in action to distribute free tickets provided by Got Your 6 for movies, concerts, sporting events, and other events.
“Our veterans – and our communities – can only reach their full potential when both are given meaningful opportunities to engage with one another,” said Got Your 6 Executive Director Bill Rausch. “We believe that veterans are leaders, team builders, and problem solvers who have the unique potential to strengthen communities across the country. Through this partnership with Vet Tix, we’re able to create new bonds between veterans working to reintegrate back into civilian life, while bridging the military-civilian divide that prevents people from truly understanding one another.”
According to Got Your 6 research, 80 percent of civilians see veterans as “broken heroes” – a combination that tends to produce the result of charity rather than opportunity for continued leadership. To combat that stereotype, Got Your 6 and its entertainment and nonprofit partners are shifting public perceptions so that veterans’ leadership and skills are recognized and utilized at home to strengthen communities.
Since 2008, Vet Tix has given out more than 2.7 million free tickets through its Tickets For Troops program, charging only a minimal service fee to cover processing and delivery costs. Today, there are more than 520,000 Vet Tixers.
“Our veterans and their families shoulder many burdens of stress and sacrifice. Whether it be financial or physical, several military veterans experience difficult challenges as they reintegrate into their families, communities, and civilian life,” said Mike Focareto, CEO of Vet Tix. “At Vet Tix, we provide those necessary opportunities for peer-reintegration and unique ways to reduce stress at little to no cost. Bringing awareness to the programs that we offer and the empowerment resources from Got Your 6 will support even more individuals in the veteran community.”
